MY BABY IS HERE

When do you need us?

Daytime

Our 4-to 5-hour morning and afternoon shifts are all about learning, normalizing, and giving you the confidence to kick that midnight Google doomscroll. Everything we do is designed to help you feel capable as you adjust to your new routines—whatever that looks like each day. (Hint: It may include giving you time to grab a hot shower!)

Overnight

These shifts are all about helping you stay rested! While you get some shut-eye, we’ll look after your baby, take care off feeding (or support you when you come to nurse or feed), and help them sleep. Our goal: to make nights easier and easier for everyone over time.

Aid in your postpartum healing

Support you during the first bath, first nail trim, first bottle...

Give you a break for a nap or quiet moment

Lend a hand with light housework when you’re overwhelmed

Share tips and tricks that have worked for us (and other parents!)

Normalize whatever stuff is freaking you out

Let’s take things one step at a time

STEP 01

Your meet
& greet

We’ll get to know you and answer your questions about postpartum doula services—and send you a proposal to make things official.

STEP 02

Your baby’s arrival

Let us know as soon as your baby has arrived (or your induction or C-section date) so we can create your schedule.

STEP 03

Your confident family

Your new family will learn, grow, and build their skills during our time together—and we’ll be there to support it all.

We’re all hands on deck

We do things a little differently around here—starting with our team approach to doula services.

When you work with us, you won’t get a single doula. You’re actually tapping into a squad of highly collaborative, seriously experienced postpartum doulas.

You may have more than one doula in your TROOP to keep you covered, and we’re always connected and sharing updates with one another. When your doula arrives at your door, they’ll be rested, healthy, and totally up to date on your family.

This super-flexible approach is just one way we’re helping build confident families.

It’s always a hell yes.

We all agree: You know what’s best for your baby. In fact, “permission granted” is one of our core values!

We’ll support every choice you make as a new parent, and if your choices change along the way, we’ll support them, too.

Got questions or want your doula’s perspective on another way to do something? We’ll share answers and ideas. But we trust you to remix your favorite bits of advice to create a care style all your own!

About Troop

Frequently
asked questions

It’s our goal to ensure you’ll have the care and support you need no matter what.

If you’re looking for several days of support every week — five overnights and four days weekly, for example, you’ll have more than one doula on your team.

And if a doula is sick or can’t make it for any reason, we have backup so you don’t have to scramble.

Another bonus: You’ll get to see more than one way to care for your baby as you create a care style all your own. (You’re doing it right, by the way!)

We want you to feel 100% comfortable with the doula coming into your home — fit is everything to us!

Our doulas all have training through a postpartum doula training program as well as our TROOP University, and get ongoing mentorship and support from leadership and one another. Every doula in our TROOP has the same philosophy and approach to supporting your family.

However, if for any reason, you feel like your doula isn’t the perfect fit, we want to know. We’ll make sure you have the support you need.

Our average package is 2–3 days and 3–4 overnights a week for 8–10 weeks. There’s no such thing as too much help! But if you can’t swing all those days or nights, or have different needs in mind, we’ll help you spread things out so that help and sleep are always on the horizon.

Just ask about our packages, or we’ll help you create one just for you.

Short answer: We’re going to do our best to understand your needs and recommend the best number of visits for you.

However, many of our families realize they need more support than they originally anticipated. We’re flexible — you can add additional days or nights or adjust your schedule as needed.

Though our families rarely think they have too much support, we’re all open to being pleasantly surprised! If you find your baby is sleeping like a champion and you don’t need quite as many nights, for example, get in touch with us.

Stuff just comes up. Have visitors coming to meet the baby, for example? We can adjust for that, too.

Our scheduling manager is a wizard and will work with you to ensure you get the right amount of the right support.

We are experts in planning for the unpredictable. Our scheduling manager is a pro at it.

If you have time, let us know when you’re in labor, so we can start getting excited! We’ll really get ramped up when you let us know when you’ll arrive home with your new baby.

Yes! We are experienced with Carrot and have also worked with Progyny.

All of our doulas meet their requirements, and we’ll do everything we can to get you reimbursed as quickly as possible.

Our goal is to make this process easy for you!

We think your time is valuable and better spent on all the other things on your to-do list, instead of interviewing doulas. But more than that… We are really great at playing matchmaker!

Our rigorous hiring process asks all the questions new parents do, and we get to know each doula’s personality and special skills… So when we meet with a new family, we’re already pairing you up in our heads!

During your meet & greet, we take copious notes on what you are looking for in a doula. We consider all of those details, plus your location and due date, to hand pick the best doula (or doulas) for you.

We hear this question from quite a few parents!

Because of our personalized matching service and all the factors that can affect the timing of your need for our services (you know we love that F word, flexibility), our families do not meet their doulas before their baby arrives.

If this seems at all scary, know that every doula in our TROOP has the same baseline expertise — we aim for interchangeability in case a family has more than one doula. And, our team is always learning and perpetually in touch to share knowledge and ensure all our families get the best possible care and service.

We hand pick your doula or doulas and have you and your baby’s very best interests at heart. Promise.

All our birth doulas and postpartum doulas have the same foundational training. They also receive access to ongoing mentorship and additional training, which our postpartum doulas are actually required to take advantage of!

Our postpartum doulas also go through TROOP University, where they receive additional support to take your support to the next level, not simply learning skills but also learning how to pass them on to a new family.

TROOP U allows us to educate doulas on our philosophy, guidelines, and best practices — so every family is guaranteed knowledgeable and capable care that meets our highest standards.

The birth doulas we carefully match with families are independent contractors, but our entire postpartum doula team is made up of full- and part-time employees with all the perks.

This helps us maintain “quality control,” too, because we can also ensure that our doulas have the support and rest they need to show up with their best every day. (And as employees, they’ve got big-time skin in the game!)

Our families love this employee model, too, because it means you’re signing on with an established business with decades of experience and knowledge and all the admin support needed to streamline your booking, scheduling, invoicing, support with benefit reimbursement, and more.

Our employees (that includes all our postpartum doulas) have access to TROOP-sponsored medical, dental, and vision benefits. They also get paid sick leave, which means nobody feels obligated to work when they aren’t well — in fact, it’s against our employee policy.

They also have a sustainable schedule and all the support they could ever need from their team.

We believe a healthy, well-rested, less-stressed team means the same for our clients and their babies.

We never want to think about the unthinkable. But in our decades of experience, we know that sometimes a new parent’s nightmare becomes a reality.

If something happens and you no longer need our support, we’ll never leave you stranded. Just get in touch — we’ll work something out, and we’ll probably cry with you as well.

We take germs seriously! Our postpartum doulas always mask in homes and around babies, and they get mandatory annual COVID and flu vaccines.

Our hands are washed, shoes come off, and we do everything in our power to ensure your baby stays healthy in their earliest weeks!

We do offer some holiday availability, but we increase our rates to compensate our doulas fairly for working during holidays.

If you need holiday coverage, please let us know during your meet & greet.

Yes! We’d love to match you with a birth doula or give you our top recommendations.

It’s never too early to look for a birth doula or postpartum doula. Our birth doulas offer prenatal visits you’ll definitely want to take advantage of, and you’ll have access to them through your whole pregnancy if you start early.!

Bottom line: You get a bit more bang for your buck by having experts you can reach out to throughout your pregnancy.

Absolutely! Fur babies are part of your family, so they’re part of ours, too.

At TROOP, we hold ourselves to high standards. Our support blends evidence-based education, practical guidance, and hands-on tips that meet your needs right now and prepare you for what’s next. Behind every doula is a whole TROOP of experienced pros sharing insights, strategies, and the collective wisdom that makes our support next-level.
